Alumnae and Alumni,
The 2007-2008 school year was a landmark year for St. Luke's alumni, and 2008-2009 promises to be even better.
Last year saw numerous milestones ...
- Homecoming 2007 had an amazing turn-out: there were representatives from every decade, and amazingly, an alumnus/ae from every single year from 1980 on!
- Founders' Day 2008 brought back alumni/a student athletes from six decades for a memorable all-school assembly that celebrated athletics on the Hilltop.
- The recently formed Student Alumni Committee's accomplishments were stunning. They tackled everything from the College Freshman Care Package Program to fundraising, from the Alumni Telephone Thankathon to a Student Alumni Summer Kickoff Party at RAIN in SoNo.
- Director of Alumni Relations Frank Henson '74, Head of School Mark Davis, and Head of Middle School Gareth Fancher traveled to Massachusetts for a Boston Alumni Event which area alumni attended.
- The Annual Alumni LAX Game had a phenomenal turnout for the fourth year in a row, making it the second largest alumni event on campus.
For the 2008-2009 school year, we need your help to grow the St. Luke's Alumni Program and keep it shining. We need alumni volunteers for a broad range of programs, so come on in, the water's fine. It's fun work and very gratifying, and you get to talk to all your old friends in the process. Please contact Frank Henson at (203) 801-4861 or by email at hensonf@stlukesct.org for more information.
If you're new to the St. Luke's Alumni Portal, you'll enjoy a robust number of features in this section of the School web site.. From here, you can find former classmates, post a class note, and listen to a live stream of WSLX, St. Luke's radio station (follow this link to check it out: WSLX.
You can also give to the School on-line (Giving On-Line to SLS), which a record number of you did last year. Whether it's matter of convenience or your wish to save trees, please feel free to use this online feature to make your gift. You'll also note that this year we have introduced several new giving categories to the Annual Fund, the School's primary instrument for donations. You can now direct your gift toward Area of Greatest Need, Athletic Fund, Faculty Fund, and/or Scholarship Fund. Your donation will support those areas not fully covered by the gap between tuition and operating costs. This is a great opportunity to focus your contribution and we hope you can take advantage of it.
Happy St. Luke's surfing! If you have questions or need more detail, please contact me at hensonf@stlukesct.org or call 203-801-4861.
Sincerely,
Frank “Bubba” Henson ’74
