Ceramics

Do you enjoy creating with clay or wish you had more time to work with this medium?

Come explore ceramic handbuilding techniques including pinch & pull, slab construction, and coiling.

All skill levels welcome, from absolute beginner to experienced and confident. With expert guidance from Samantha Mongardi, St. Luke’s Middle School Art Department Chair, participants will learn or review the basics of the stages of clay, construction techniques, and glazing and embellishment options. Create anything from expressive animal sculptures or masks to functional cups or bowls.

Designed as a two-week experience, the first week will be spent constructing our clay creations, and they will be fired in the kiln in time for glazing and a second firing the second week. You will take home as many beautiful, finished ceramic pieces as you have the time and desire to create!
