Learn the basics or elevate your chess skills this summer! Quite aside from how much fun it can be, chess is a game that develops players’ ability to think strategically, assess risk and reward, recognize patterns, and problem-solve. It also builds patience, resilience, sportsmanship, self-confidence, and friendships.
Open to both beginners and intermediate players, Chess Camp combines personalized instruction and guided practice with a US Chess Federation-rated tournament on the last day of each session, offering campers the chance to take their progress with them. Participants will learn or review opening, middlegame, and endgame principles; methodical calculation; and chess intuition.
Other activities include chess variant tournaments, puzzle-solving competitions, and simultaneous exhibitions. Designed as an adaptive one-week camp, experienced youth coaches and certified tournament directors from 32 Pieces Chess Club will tailor each week to your moves.
