Girls Soccer Wins FAA Tournament Title

Daniel Clarke
The St. Luke’s girls varsity soccer team won the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Tournament Championship on Friday, Nov. 12, with a 2-0 win against Greenwich Academy.

The Storm scored a goal in each half against the Gators to record its second straight tournament victory. The two teams met in the championship game in 2019, with St. Luke’s edging out a 2-1 win in that contest.

Ali Gall ‘22 scored the first goal for the Storm from the penalty spot, after Mackenzie Nelson ‘23 had been fouled inside the box. The senior captain slotted the ball low and hard into the bottom corner to give St. Luke’s a 1-0 lead. Gall turned provider midway through the second half, sending a perfect cross to Aidan Panian ‘23 to head home into the far corner, making it 2-0 to St. Luke’s.

Despite some late pressure from GA, the Storm controlled the rest of the game, earning the title of champions and finishing the FAA season undefeated.
