Maria Juran '15 Earns AATF’s Outstanding Senior in French Award
St. Luke’s senior Maria Juran was awarded this year's Outstanding Senior in French Award for her exceptional commitment to the study of French, and resulting high achievement in speaking, reading and writing French.
This award was established by the American Association of French Teachers in 2003 and gives schools with AATF member teachers the opportunity to select one student to receive the certificate and medal each year. To qualify for the award, a student must:
have maintained an excellent academic average in French while performing well in all other subjects;
be in his or her senior year at a public or private secondary school or at a public or private college or university;
have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the study of French by participating in extracurricular activities related to French which may include but are not limited to the Grand Concours, study abroad, language week activities, tutoring, etc.
at the time of graduation, have completed at least three years of formal French study;
be a non-native speaker of French;
be nominated by an AATF member.
Maria was presented the award by her French teacher Jon Shee, World Language Department Chair, during Upper School Town Meeting. Maria’s name will be permanently featured on the online honor board of the AATF for nationwide winners of this prestigious award. Congratulations, Maria!
