Students took center stage as SLS hosted its annual in-house Model UN tournament. This dynamic event, organized entirely by our Student Executive Board, brought together 65 students from grades 9-12 to tackle a high-stakes Joint Crisis Committee on the War of 1812.
In this fast-paced simulation, delegates represented key historical figures from the United States and Great Britain, responding to evolving scenarios with quick-thinking diplomacy, strategic maneuvering, and critical thinking. The student-generated crises challenged participants to grapple with complex geopolitical issues in real-time, honing their leadership skills as they navigated high-pressure situations.
"Model UN is a great example of our Leading with Humanity philosophy," shared faculty advisor Abby Abbott. "Students learn to consider others' perspectives, exercise empathy, and collaborate to solve pressing global problems — all essential skills for the next generation of purpose-driven leaders."
The Model UN team is looking forward to the next tournament, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, in January. For more information on getting involved in Model UN at St. Luke's, please contact Abby Abbott at
