Five St. Luke’s Art students are currently featured in the Wilton Arts Council’s Focus ‘17 Photography exhibition at the Wilton Library. Class of 2018 artists Emma Duryea, Bridget Dalton, Isabelle Stone and Class of 2020 artists Sam Boston and Anna Raleigh embraced the Wilton Arts Council’s call for entry in order to participate in the exhibition, which features hundreds of photographers from throughout the New York and Connecticut area.
It is a daunting task for students to enter a show where they will see their work alongside that of professional photographers and other students, but also incredibly satisfying to see their own work be able to hold its own amongst the crowd and speak volumes about each individual’s artistic vision. The amount of time and labor that goes into each individual photograph on display is impressive; students select one image out of potentially hundreds of images shot, the image is carefully worked upon in the darkroom or on the computer, it is printed, matted, framed and wired, finally making its way onto the walls of a gallery for all to experience. The St. Luke’s Art Department is incredibly proud of these students for their hard work, courageous participation in the exhibition, and their inspirational artwork!
The Wilton Arts Council Focus ‘17 will be on display at the Wilton Library (137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton) March 4-30, with a reception (open to the public) on Friday, March 10 from 6:00-7:30pm.
