SpringFest Is Almost Here

V. Parker
Rehearsing plays, displaying artwork, preparing recitations—these are just some of the ways St. Luke’s students and faculty are getting ready for next week’s SpringFest.

It all starts next Thursday evening when 21 seniors participate in the Scholars Symposium. Each presentation is the culmination of an intense, yearlong study on a STEM, Global or Classical topic. Director of Studies Jim Yavenditti said, “Our Scholars Symposium showcases the best of student scholarship here on the Hilltop. It's really exciting to see to what depths our students have researched their topics, and how they're able to take complex material and make it accessible to their audiences.”

The following afternoon will be filled with music, theatre and visual arts events as well as poetry readings (expanded this year to include students in all grades). As music teacher Bob Leinbach shared, “We are always surprised to see what the students come up with and the amazing moments that happen during their performances.” A reception with refreshments will also be part of the festivities. SpringFest concludes with an evening production of the fast-paced, hilarious The 39 Steps performed by the Advanced Acting Class.

As English Department Chair Stephen Flachsbart summed it up: “Springfest is one of the coolest events all year. Come check it out—you'll be glad you did.”
