Spring Plays: The 39 Steps, The Giver and Love/Sick

V. Parker
St. Luke’s Theatre is bustling this spring with three productions: The 39 Steps, The Giver and Love/Sick. Director of Theater Arts Jason Peck shares this about these plays past and future:

The 39 Steps was such fun and our audiences reveled in the over-the-top nature of the performances. Overhead backstage, "This was the most fun I've ever had on stage." Answered to a chorus of "Me too(s)."  Indeed, it was. View The 39 Steps photo gallery to see some of the fun moments.

Set against a backdrop of a dystopian society where choice and free will have been eliminated, Lois Lowry's haunting The Giver is a coming of age story about twelve year boy Jonas as he begins to discover the dangers of his community. We've developed a very tech heavy show with some gorgeous projection design that will be sure to enthrall and delight the senses.

Author John Cariani (the playwright who wrote Almost, Maine) has written a story that takes place in one Saturday evening in June that has people falling in and out of love. These characters are Love/Sick. This has been such a wonderful opportunity for our actors and our Senior directors who brought such talent and passion to the production.

The Middle School production of The Giver is scheduled for this week: Thursday, May 11 at 6:00pm and Friday, May 12 at 7:00pm in the Seldin Performing Arts Center.

Love/Sick will be presented by the Upper School Friday, May 19 at 7:00pm and Saturday, May 20 in the Black Box Theater.

Both productions are free admission and open to the public.
