Largest St. Luke’s Model UN Team Takes On Tournament
V. Parker
From Model UN Advisor Abby Bielski:
St. Luke’s entered its largest Model United Nations team to date of 18 students in a recent New York City tournament. More than one thousand students spent a weekend participating in a Global Classroom Initiatives Conference hosted by the American Lebanese University. St. Luke’s students tackled complex topics such as the global narcotics trade, human trafficking, and institutional racism with poise and confidence. Many of our students penned, signed, or sponsored bills that were eventually passed by their committees.
In addition to lengthy work sessions, the St. Luke’s team took a private tour of the United Nations building, participated in an 'Escape the Room' team-building experience, strolled through Central Park and Times Square, and visited the Met Breuer Museum.
The St. Luke’s Model UN team included:
Carolina Warneryd (co-president), Mary Grace Thomas (co-president), Harper Boege, Cole Bryant, Sarah Bryant, Tasia Courts, Dylan Johnson, Lucas Manocherian, Laura Mercedes, Ruth Mercedes, Phil Platek, Alexandra Schwartz, Raven Sead, Sierra Taylor, Julian Velez, Marco Volpitta, Chris Walsh and Lexi Watson.
