Middle School Squash Wins Bracket at Nationals

The St. Luke’s Middle School Squash Program had a wonderful experience at the 2020 U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships, where the boys won the consolation bracket. 

The three-day event was held at the Brady Squash Center at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, Friday, Jan. 31–Sunday, Feb. 2.

The Storm boys lost a tough opening match 2-3 against Moses Brown School from Providence, Rhode Island, before advancing all the way to the b-bracket championship match.

St. Luke’s beat Rumson Country Day School, Rumson, New Jersey, in the quarterfinal match 5-0 and Darien in the semifinal 4-1.

The final was played against New Canaan neighbor Saxe Middle School. A determined performance from the Storm finished with another 4-1 victory to claim the title.

The St. Luke’s girls team played a round-robin event against Darien Middlesex Middle School, Greens Farms Academy, New Haven B, and Stuart Country Day School from Princeton, New Jersey.

The St. Luke’s boys and girls varsity squash teams will compete in the 2020 National Interscholastic Team Squash Championships, which will take place on Feb. 15-16, in Providence, Rhode Island.
