Let The Games Begin

This weekend sees the first St. Luke’s athletic contest since our Girls Varsity Basketball team competed for the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council championship 209 days ago on Sunday, March 8.

The Storm field hockey team travels to Greens Farms Academy on Saturday, Oct. 3, for a 3pm game, which will end the long wait to see our student-athletes back in action.

All six fall sports are scheduled to play on Saturday, Oct. 10, against Greenwich Country Day School, as the modified season starts in earnest.

Field hockey hosts GCDS at 12:30pm, before another road trip to Greenwich Academy on Oct. 17. The Storm travels to King School on Oct. 31, before hosting Sacred Heart on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Our cross country team will race at GCDS on Oct. 10, at Brunswick and GA on Oct. 17, at King School on Oct. 31, and at Sacred Heart on Nov. 7.

Football’s home opener against the Tigers is at 3pm, before a trip to Hamden Hall Country Day School on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Storm has tentative plans to travel to Kingswood Oxford School on Oct. 24, before hosting King School on Halloween. St. Luke’s varsity football completes its 7v7 season with a road trip to Brunswick School on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Boys soccer begins its season at the home of the Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 3pm, before another road game on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Brunswick School. The Storm is tentatively scheduled to host Hopkins School on Oct. 24, King School on Oct. 31, and GFA on Nov. 7

Girls soccer hosts GCDS on Oct. 10 at 1:30pm, before making the trip to Greenwich Academy on Oct. 17, for a rematch of last fall’s FAA Championship game. The Storm is tentatively scheduled to host Hopkins on Oct. 24, and travel to the Vikings on Oct. 31. St. Luke’s GVS wraps up its season against Sacred Heart at home on Nov. 7.

The St. Luke’s volleyball team hosts Greenwich Country Day School to kick-off their campaign on Oct. 10, and hosts GA on Oct. 17, Hopkins on Oct. 24 (tentative), and King on Oct. 31. The Storm’s only road game is on Saturday, Nov. 7, when the team makes the trip to Sacred Heart in its final match of the season.

Girls varsity soccer coach Dan Clarke says his team is delighted to have the opportunity to play against other schools: “We have held on to the hope that, if we followed the protocols in place and did things the right way, we would be able to play games against other schools. The team has performed tremendously, under some difficult circumstances, and has earned this opportunity. I think all the coaches and players have been looking forward to this moment, and it’s going to be so fun to see our student-athletes back in Storm uniforms representing St. Luke’s.”

A reminder that there are significant limitations on spectators this fall. St. Luke’s is allowing only one spectator per student-athlete participant. An additional note on spectator limitations is that schools have vastly different rules related to visitors on their campus. In some cases, it may be that spectators are not permitted for select road events.

The St. Luke’s Athletic Department is working on live streaming as many of these events as possible. Follow the Storm on Twitter and Instagram, and Facebook for all the latest news and updates.
