On May 22, St. Luke's Middle School debate team competed in the Connecticut Middle School Debate League Championship. Seventy debaters, across 24 teams from 14 schools, participated in the tournament. Each team debated the motion: This House, as the International Criminal Court, would make ecocide an international crime.
St. Luke’s debaters began early in the morning and debated through the evening’s final round, placing second in the championship. A few individual debaters also won awards: Samantha Gerber ‘25, first place speaker, Avery Zakowich ‘25 fourth place speaker, and Dash Gilrain-Lennon ‘25, seventh place speaker.
Congratulations to the Middle School Debate Team on a successful season and their top-notch tournament results.
