Jon Shee Honors Dom DeMarco '18 at Stanford’s Engineering Award Luncheon

S. Veneruso
Dominic DeMarco '18 was recently presented with the Frederick Emmons Terman Engineering Scholastic Award for distinguished academic performance at Stanford University. This prestigious award is presented to only the top five percent of each year's senior engineering class; with DeMarco being one of 30 students to receive the award this year. Awardees attend a celebratory luncheon and invite the most influential pre-college teacher who guided them during the formative stages of their academic career. DeMarco selected St. Luke’s World Language Department Chair Jon Shee to join him in California for this special recognition. There, Shee literally sang the praises of DeMarco by singing his own lyrics to "Le temps des cathédrales" from DeMarco’s favorite musical, "Notre-Dame de Paris."

While the luncheon was just for award winners, their invited influential teacher, and Stanford advisor, DeMarco's sister, Marguerite '21, is also studying at Stanford and was able to stop by after the celebration to congratulate her brother and say hello to her former teacher.

Shee leads St. Luke's French program, which recently received the rank of "Exemplary with Distinction," the highest rank a French program in the United States can receive from the American Association of Teachers of French.
