2024 Homecoming Recap

Alumni Office
The Hilltop was filled with joy and excitement as we welcomed alums, parents of alums, and current families back to campus for a weekend full of celebration. Homecoming kicked off on Friday afternoon with an energetic Pep Rally, where Ali Truwit ’18 delivered an inspiring message to our students, faculty, and staff, setting the tone for an unforgettable weekend.
Saturday morning commenced with the Richard M. Whitcomb Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony, where we proudly honored Pete Pinza ’62, Meaghan Loftus ’04, and Adam Connolly ’12 for their exceptional achievements as St. Luke’s athletes. The honorees were celebrated by fellow alums, family members, faculty, staff, and current athletic captains, all gathered to recognize their remarkable contributions to St. Luke’s athletic legacy.
Meanwhile, in the Commons, the Mystery Box Challenge drew over 80 Middle School students, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities. Throughout the day, the Hilltop was treated to a remarkable showcase of talent. Alum Dan Mecca '81 returned to broadcast live from the WSLX Studio, marking the 21st year of Homecoming coverage by WSLX. On the Be Kind Plaza, guests enjoyed the musical talents of SLS students, with performances that ranged from intimate coffeehouse-style acoustic vocals to an energetic rock band ensemble.
Head of School Mary Carter welcomed over 50 guests to a special luncheon honoring alums celebrating 50+ years since their graduation. After the meal, the Class of 1961 enjoyed a student-led tour before gathering in the designLab for a hands-on demonstration and votive candle-making activity, creating a memorable moment of connection and creativity.

Our athletic teams had a full slate of games during Homecoming, with Field Hockey, Girls Varsity Soccer, Volleyball, Boys Varsity Soccer, and Varsity Football all hosting competitive matchups. For those looking to get some exercise, our Cross-Country team led a fun run, inviting visitors to join in and get their steps in. Attendees also enjoyed the offerings of our food truck festival and dining tent.

The day of festivities culminated with the Parents of Alums and Alum Reunion Reception on the picturesque Together Terrace at the Grey House. They gathered to reconnect and share memories, celebrating milestone reunions for the classes of 1974, 1999, 2014, and 2019. Guests enjoyed beautiful weather, delicious food, drinks, and a cozy bonfire. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this memorable day of celebration.
