St. Luke's School Celebrates Division 1 Signing Day with Four Student-Athletes

Dr. Frog Ogilvie
On a crisp November morning, the St. Luke's School community gathered in the athletic center to celebrate a milestone event: Division 1 Signing Day. This annual tradition honors student-athletes who committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. With the stands filled with cheering classmates, teachers, and family members, the event was a powerful reminder of the talent, determination, and spirit that define St. Luke's athletes.

This year, four remarkable students took center stage:
  • Emma Sollenne: Committed to play basketball at Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania, Emma has been a cornerstone of the St. Luke's Girls Basketball program and is known for her leadership on and off the court.
  • Tripp Beasley: Signed to play baseball at Villanova University, Tripp’s work ethic and passion for the game have made him a standout both at the plate and on the field.
  • Cam Nelson: Heading to Syracuse University to play basketball, Cam has dazzled fans with her skill, vision, and relentless drive, becoming an integral part of the St. Luke’s Girls Basketball team’s success.
  • Reagan Weneck: Joining the rowing program at the University of Michigan, Reagan has shown exceptional strength, resilience, and teamwork as a member of St. Luke’s growing rowing community.
The ceremony was not only a celebration of individual achievements but a testament to the support system that fuels these successes. St. Luke’s Athletic Director Anna Knechtel spoke about the dedication of the athletes and their families, as well as the contributions of coaches, teachers, and peers who have supported them throughout their journeys.

“Today, we’re not just recognizing the achievements of these four exceptional students,” she said. “We’re celebrating the values they represent—hard work, resilience, and teamwork. These athletes truly embody what it means to be part of the Storm and they are an inspiration to all of us.”

The energy in the room was electric, as classmates turned out in large numbers to show their pride and support. The athletes signed their letters of intent at a table draped in their respective university colors with a St. Luke’s backdrop behind them, each one flanked by family and coaches and surrounded by the thunderous applause of their peers.

Division 1 Signing Day serves as a reminder of the incredible potential within the halls of St. Luke’s School and the enduring impact of the Storm community. As Emma, Tripp, Cam, and Reagan prepare to embark on their next chapters, they carry with them the pride and support of their Storm family.

In the spring, we will celebrate the DII and DIII student-athletes with a ceremony. We hope you can join us.

Congratulations to our future Division 1 athletes — you make your community very proud!
