St. Luke's Ice Hockey Unveils Facilities at SoNo Ice House
Dan Lyons
Earlier today, St. Luke's Ice Hockey officially unveiled its brand new facilities at the SoNo Ice House.
SoNo Ice House, located at 300 Wilson Avenue in Norwalk, CT, is the new home of St. Luke's Hockey, and with the generosity of a donor to the school, SLS was able to secure a full locker room suite next to the main rink, complete with varsity and middle school locker rooms, bathroom and shower facilities, a training room, and a coach's office.
The ceremony began with introductions by SLS Head of School Mark Davis and Athletic Director Kevin Butler, who both praised the work of the players and coaches in building the St. Luke's hockey program from the ground up, and the impact that the top-of-the-line facilities will have on the program. Players Justin Kramer '14 and Christian Duncan '14, two SLS students who have been with the program since its inception, were brought forward to cut the ceremonial ribbon and officially open the locker room facilities.
The SLS suite includes custom wooden lockers, including larger lockers fitted for goalies, flat screen televisions, a full work station for coaches, a training table, a Bluetooth sound system, and various other amenities. The facilities are also decorated with numerous photos, jerseys, and other memorabilia celebrating the history of St. Luke's hockey.
While the program is still very much in its nascent period - the team does not feature any seniors this season - these top-level facilities and the partnership with the SoNo Ice House, which some have affectionately referred to as "SLS South", should help propel the program forward as it continues to grow.
