Student Alumni Committee Seniors presentation to Visual and Performing Arts Faculty
Class of 2015 Achieves 100% Participation In Senior Giving Project
Each February, the St. Luke's School senior class undertakes a Senior Giving Project to thank and recognize those who made their time at SLS meaningful. This year, the Senior Class of 2015 chose to make their #SLSTeacherTribute gifts, their first gifts to the SLS Annual Fund, in honor of the Visual & Performing Art Departments Faculty (Art, Music, & Theatre).
Thanks to the leadership of the Student Alumni Committee (S.A.C.) seniors; Noah Daniel, Monika Gabriele, Nick Gault, Elizabeth Guillen, Malcolm Joung, Clay Kontulis, Jessy Quindlen, Tess Tregellas, and Will Twomey, the Class of 2015 successfully achieved their exceptional goal of 100% participation in giving by the class of 72 students, raising over $1,000 to support their soon-to-be alma mater.
At the center of the Senior Giving Project is the opportunity to thank and recognize the impact the SLS Faculty has had on students' development. It allows the seniors to lead by example and pay their gratitude forward for future generations. The seniors work to cement their legacy as a class that cares about the School while building the habit of supporting SLS in the future, no matter where their travels may take them.
As Malcolm '15 shared with his fellow seniors, "St. Luke's, as a not-for-profit institution, cannot succeed in its mission without the financial support of alumni, faculty, parents, parents of alumni, and many others." Tuition does not cover the full cost of a St. Luke's education and gifts go to support all facets of SLS life such as:
supporting SLS teachers as they prepare students for college
providing equipment to sports teams
supporting theatre & music performances
keeping the lights on in the building
When asked why the S.A.C. seniors believe this to be such an important project that they would take a leadership role in, Malcolm responded "because of my time spent with the music program." Will Twomey '15 pointed to "the role models my coaches have been." "The strong relationships I have with my teachers" was highlighted by Jessy Quindlen '15 as her reason to give.
