St. Luke's Field Hockey—Playing with a Purpose

For the third year in a row, the St.Luke's Field Hockey Program spent the month of October raising money and awareness for cancer research through Play4theCure. The entire Field Hockey program, athletes from grades 5-12, worked together holding numerous bakes sales, hosted a Field Hockey shoot-out on Homecoming Day, and sold a lot of pink socks, all together raising a total of $854.26 this season.

Head Coach Brinley Ehlers sees P4TC as a wonderful way to unite the program and raise money for cancer research. Coach Ehlers shares why participating in Play4theCure is especially meaningful to her: "This year, we were raising money for osteosarcoma research, a cause near and dear to my heart since I lost a close cousin to osteosarcoma 3 years ago. Stirling was only 26. She was a college field hockey player and a vibrant individual! I love that groups such as P4TC allow kids to get involved and raise awareness and money by playing a sport they love." Congratulations to the St. Luke's Field Hockey teams, coaches and parents for letting their love of the game serve a higher purpose.
