Holiday Boutique: Getting While Giving

VGP
The Center for Leadership’s annual Holiday Boutique supporting nonprofit organizations filled the Fireplace Commons for more than two hours on Tuesday afternoon. An array of goods were on display—many homemade—including handbags, notecards, jewelry, pottery and more.

US English Chair Steve Flachsbart said, “It was a great chance to help out people in need.” He was impressed with the Our Woven Community’s  “cool purses and pocketbooks” made by women in Bridgeport. Flachsbart added, “I actually borrowed money to buy more!”

SLS parent Jenny Goodwyn was a first-time vendor selling homemade chocolate and granola in support of Community Plates—a local food rescue organization. According to Goodwyn, “The response from the community was tremendous. I think some might even reach out and become volunteer food runners.”

Organizations represented included: B Kind, Community Plates, Decatur Memorial Fund, French Red Cross, Fox G1 Syndrome, Kids in Crisis, Kiva, Make a Wish Foundation, Mission: Wolf, Nagarote Sister City, Nica Photo, Our Woven Community, Pura Vida, St. Luke’s Store, Trafigura/Domus and Wolf Conservation Center.
