Jacob Morgenstern made a huge impact at St. Luke's both on and off the football field.
The St. Luke’s football team recently celebrated a successful season (emebed link) and honored star player, and team captain: Jacob Morgenstern.
Morgenstern, who will attend Duke University, and play on its football team in the 2016 season, was a standout wide receiver during his tenure with the Storm. Everyone at the December 18th luncheon honoring Jacob, including Head Football Coach Noel Thomas, Athletic Director Mike West, and members of Morgenstern’s family, glowed with pride as they shared stories of Jacob’s athletic growth and many accomplishments.
Morgenstern’s cousin credited St. Luke’s for upping Jacob’s game: “All too often life is just about learning how to survive. At St. Luke’s, Jacob was taught what it meant to thrive.”
Morgenstern’s teammate, co-captain, and friend Andrew Frattaroli added: “ He led by example and motivated others. He was a terrific captain and was part of the centerpiece of this team. As he leaves for Duke soon, we know that he will carry on that same attitude which won over the St. Luke’s community.”
Morgenstern is one of the most successful players to ever don a St. Luke’s football jersey. Head Coach Noel Thomas credited Jacob’s success to his work ethic. “This team’s philosophy is One line. No gaps. No excuses. Jacob took that to heart and applied it to his life on and off the field.”
Jacob’s mentors, teammates, and indeed the entire St. Luke’s community, wish him the greatest of luck at Duke University and beyond.
