Families Invited to J-Term Showcase

V. Parker
Next week, St. Luke’s 9th graders will become immersed in one of the School’s signature events: J-Term. Restrictions of class periods have been removed in order for the students to have control over their learning environment as they explore topics meaningful to them. Early in the fall, 9th graders were asked what concerns they had about the world they live in and gave recommendations for their J-Term theme and topics. In the coming days, they’ll learn about these topics and decide what actions they could take in response to the challenges discovered.

The pinnacle of this in-depth exploration is the J-Term Showcase presented on Friday, February 3 at 9:00-11:00am in the Middle School gym. The groups will share what they’ve learned about their topics and answer questions.

All St. Luke’s families are invited to attend the J-Term Showcase. There will be a number of ways to provide feedback to the students during the event. The more participation from people in the community, the better. As previous J-Terms have shown, it will be an impressive display of initiative, care and learning exhibited by the 9th grade.
