St. Luke’s Athletics enjoyed a memorable season across all its winter sports and had 20 student-athletes recognized for their efforts in the postseason accolades.
Girls Varsity Squash finished the season with an overall record of 7-4 and were runners up in division three at The Head 2017 U.S. High School Team Championships. Three team members were named in the postseason awards. Caroline Pellegrino ‘21 and Haley Bloch ‘20 both received FAA All-League nominations and captain Natalie Bachman ‘17 was given an honorable mention.
Boys Squash enjoyed a lot of personal development and had some excellent matches throughout the season culminating in an excellent performance at the New England tournament. Captains Dennis Polyakov ‘18 and Logan Diliberto ‘18 were both recognized for their work on the courts as Dennis received FAA All-League and Logan an Honorable mention.
The St. Luke’s Ice Hockey team enjoyed another great season finishing with an overall record of 10-5-1 and was narrowly defeated in the FAA Championship game against Rye Country Day School. They received FAA All-League nominations for Will Foster ‘17, WIll Frossell ‘18, Paul Woodberry ‘17 and goalkeeper Evan Ruschill ‘18 as well as an honorable mention for Charlie Whiteley ‘17.
The Ski team had a superb season on the slopes and, despite some warm temperatures at times, got all its races in. Phoebe Kurth ‘20 received All-State honors and Andrew Kurth ‘18 received an All-State honorable mention for their stellar skiing. Phoebe will also represent Team CT this year after qualifying 10th overall. Andrew narrowly missed out and is on standby to race.
Girls Varsity Basketball had another remarkable season and finished with an overall record of 26-2. The team won the FAA regular season title and was crowned FAA Tournament Champions. The girls made the semifinals of the New England tournament where they lost a heartbreaker in overtime to eventual champions Proctor Academy. Sydney Lowery ‘17, McKenna Frank ‘18 and Maya Klein ‘18 were all nominated for All-League honors and Janelle Johnson received an honorable mention. Lowery, Frank and Klein were also selected for the New England All-Star team.
The Boys Varsity Basketball team had a near-perfect season as it won the FAA regular season title, the FAA Tournament Championship and the New England Class C Championship for the second year in a row to finish with an overall record of 24-1. Walter Whyte ‘17, Joel Boyce ‘17 and Jonas Harper ‘18 were given FAA All-league awards and Andrew Varoli ‘18 received an honorable mention for their excellent displays.
