St. Luke's Duo Enjoy Superb Swim Seasons

Dan Clarke
Congratulations to St. Luke’s students Alexandra Truwit ‘18 and Mark Forese ‘17 who both enjoyed excellent swim seasons for Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and the New Canaan YMCA Caimans respectively.

Truwit recently completed a fantastic year which saw her meet the qualifying standards for the USA Swimming All-American award as well as qualifying for the Winter Junior Nationals.

The Darien native won the season championship at the E-Z Speedo Super Sectionals in Ithaca, New York, with her Chelsea Piers team between March 30 - April 2.

Truwit made the final in five different events picking up a Gold medal in the 400m Medley relay. The St. Luke’s junior anchored the race for her team which set a new sectionals and Connecticut record. She also enjoyed 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th place finishes in four of her other events.

She also finished 3rd in the 1000 meter freestyle with a time that ranks her 34th in the country in her age group.

Forese is wrapping up his 14-year swimming career with the New Canaan YMCA Caimans and is also preparing to become a Princeton Tiger in the fall.

Forese’s focus events are the 50, 100 and 200m freestyle but he also swims the 100m and 200m backstroke as well as the 100-meter butterfly.

Forese has participated in four short-course YMCA National championships over the years, most recently in Greensboro, NC, between April 3 – April 7.

The New Canaan resident is also due to participate in the long-course Nationals event with the YMCA Caimans this summer before continuing his training in the pool at Princeton University.
