On June 1, the Middle School Awards Assembly was part of fun and full day of celebration which also included Field Day and MS Talent Show. Head of Middle School Gareth Fancher shared remarks during the awards assembly that reflected on the school year.
The following Middle School awards were presented at the assembly:
Academic Growth Award—This award recognizes significant growth and academic improvement. It is given to someone who exhibits the characteristics and traits of what it means to be a “student.”
2017 recipient: Lucy Ehlers
Middle School Service Award—Given to a student who consistently demonstrates “the commitment to serve and the confidence to lead.” He/she must demonstrate initiative, ambition and leadership and go above & beyond with his/her contributions in daily school life.
2017 recipient: Jack Laibe
Emil Bucci Character Award—The award is presented to students who consistently live by the tenets of the St. Luke’s Honor Code: honesty, kindness, respect & responsibility. The recipients are friendly, demonstrate a love and concern for others and inspire their peers through their warmth, humor and humility. They also put forth noteworthy effort in their scholarship and activities.
2017 recipients: Rebecca Bailey, Kathleen Ehlers, Liam Patty, Skyler Wilkes
The Junior Loyalty Cup—Awarded to a student in 7th or 8th grade whose leadership and loyalty to the school demonstrates he/she to be an all-around outstanding member of the Middle School.
2017 recipient: Elyse Kim
Edward Scovner Excellence in Middle School Teaching Award—The recipient is a Middle School teacher who inspires students to fulfill their potential. This teacher demonstrates deep commitment and affection for students, and most importantly, has a distinctive style and approach to teaching.
2017 recipient: MS Science Chair Susan Bralower
