CFL Lunch & Lead: Living with PTSD

VGP
It’s nearly impossible to imagine what it is like to live with PTSD, but students who attended Dion Sead’s Lunch & Lead on Feb. 7 got a glimpse into that life. Sead, a St. Luke’s parent, spoke movingly about his decision to enlist in the Army at just 18 years old. On the eve of what was to be Sead’s discharge, the U.S. entered into war with Iraq and all discharges were suspended. Within months, Sead—still a teen—was deployed to the front lines of Iraq.

Listen as Sead describes his journey and life-changing experiences.

Sead credits the unwavering love of his wife and support of the VA hospital for helping him survive. His message was one of courage, determination, and triumph. Abby Thomas ‘23 was part of the standing-room-only audience of students, teachers and administrators listening to Sead’s talk. She said, “I know Mr. Sead, so it was really cool to hear his story. There’s a part of people you really don’t know unless they share it with you, and it was powerful hearing what he had to say.”
