St. Luke’s Debate Competes in Harvard Invitational

V.Parker
From Debate Coach Meredith MacLeod:

Over the President's Day weekend, St. Luke's Upper School Debate Team headed to Harvard for the 46th Annual Harvard National High School Invitational Forensics Tournament. There were more than 3,700 students from 37 different states and 400 schools in attendance.

St. Luke’s sent three debaters—Jerry Rutigliano ‘20, Nicholas Rutigliano ‘21, and Lily Tencic ‘20—who competed in the extemporaneous speaking category. Jerry won third place in the preliminary rounds. Lily tackled the Original Oratory competition, presenting her speech about Sappho, the Ancient Greek “Tenth Muse.” All three debaters delivered a strong showing during a weekend of competitive fun. Congratulations to the team on a job well done!
