St. Luke’s Recognized for Service Project

V. Parker
From Center for Leadership Director Kate Parker-Burgard:

On Feb. 14, St. Luke's was presented the first-place award for the 2020 Person-to-Person Souper Bowl, by Rick Nixon, the Food Center Manager for Person-to-Person. St. Luke’s has participated in (and won) this food drive competition in the past, but this is the first year that there has been a trophy.

Abbey O'Meara ‘20, who has been facilitating St. Luke's participation in the competition since her sophomore year, accepted the award on behalf of the school. This year's Person-to-Person Souper Bowl resulted in nearly 4,000 pounds of food being collected from 11 different schools in the area. St. Luke's contributed 706 of those pounds. The food was distributed throughout the Stamford-Norwalk-Darien communities.

St. Luke's is known among our partner organizations as being highly responsive to the needs of people who are food insecure, and this trophy (now displayed in the trophy case on the fourth floor of the Jensen Family Humanities Wing) is a reminder of our care for our community.
