Some of St. Luke’s Chess Club members' latest move was to participate in the online Landon Invitational Chess Tournament. Held on chess.com, five St. Luke’s students – Zach Amendola ‘21, Jonathan Hobson ‘21, Vincent DiTeodoro ‘21, Pierce Leclerc ‘21, and Ethan Xia ‘23 – spent last Saturday morning competing against players from the schools in Maryland and Delaware: St. Andrew’s, Landon, and Georgetown Prep.
Chess Club Advisor Alvin Hamilton shared, “Highlights included Ethan's 2-1 record, Zach's victory in round 1, and the team earning a point and a half from the tournament victors. Although we finished in third place, many of the games were decided by a single move. Above all, our St. Luke’s players displayed great sportsmanship.”
