Thanks to St. Luke’s Parents’ Association and a team of St. Luke’s faculty and staff, SLS seniors have been getting some extra love (and treats) during the past couple of weeks. St. Luke’s parent and active PA member Kim Jodka shared some of the many ways our community has been reaching out to the Class of 2020:
St. Luke’s has put together a team of faculty and staff to work on the “Caring for Seniors” project (Mike West, Dale Griffa, Sonia Bell, Kate Parker-Burgard, Liz Perry, Matt Ward, Ginny Bachman, Nancy Troeger, Valerie Parker and Meg Paulson). I have been acting as the parent liaison for this wonderful team, which is showing the senior class some love during this anything but ordinary senior spring. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons.
The school has reached out to the Class of 2020 with several touch points: Mark Davis has sent a video message to the senior class; some of the faculty put together a video that featured each of them holding up different signs of encouragement and included the Senior Tributes from the Town Meetings on Mondays. Once the page turned to May, the seniors have been delighted by a number of gifts they have received from their beloved school. Last week, the Parents’ Association bought each senior a $20 gift card from GrubHub to share lunch on Senior Skip Day. (Shh, don’t let their teachers know.)
This week was off the charts! The Athletic Department celebrated spring athletes by delivering cut-outs, lawn signs and T-shirts. The Department of Theatre Arts delivered lawn signs and will send flowers to seniors for their last show, which will live-stream on Saturday night. Class of 2020 puzzles arrived in seniors’ mailboxes, and a team of faculty and senior parents hand-delivered SLS fleece blankets and enormous chocolate chips cookies to each student.
Thank you so much to the "Caring for Seniors” team and all of the drivers (Ginny Bachman, John Conners, Lara DiCorpo, Lisa Gifford, Jeannie Intrieri, Kim Jodka, Jeannie Kriftcher, Andrea O’Meara, Kate Parker-Burgard, Jen Platek, Michelle Riley, Meghan Rosow, Marie Scanlan, Jill Stute, Shelley Vogel, and Mike West), who delivered a smile to the faces of the seniors on behalf of the school.
