Asian Pacific Heritage Month Activities

During the month of May, St. Luke’s Asian Affinity Group arranged various online events for the school community to enjoy.

From Asian Affinity Group Co-Advisor Sasha Mathrani:
This year, the St. Luke's Asian Affinity Group took Asian Pacific Heritage Month online, in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic. After months of planning for in person activities, the student leaders pivoted to hosting all content virtually. The group shared a book list by Asian authors, movies that centered Asian experiences, and even a Spotify playlist featuring Asian and Pacific Islander artists (links can be found on the group’s website). Each week, a member of the group did a cooking demonstration of a dish important to their culture, and the group hosted a movie night and discussion, which featured the movie The Farewell. This was the Asian Affinity Group's first attempt at a school-wide celebration of the month, and we look forward to bringing more activities and awareness to the SLS community in the future.
