Senior Debaters Finish Season With a Sweet Surprise
From Debate Coach Meredith MacLeod:
In May, St. Luke’s Upper School Debate Team competed in their final CDA (Connecticut Debate Association ) debate tournament of the year. The senior debaters spent all day Saturday, May 30, debating the resolution: This house believes distance education is preferable to in-person education. Laura and Ruth Mercedes placed fifth overall in the varsity division for CDA.
Earlier in the week, St. Luke's Class of 2020 Debate Team members were treated to some custom cookies made by The Painted Cookie, a nut-free bakery in Wilton. Jerry Rutigliano and Lily Tencic happened to catch Coach MacLeod in the act of distributing a box of goodies and a photo collage to each team member.
Coach MacLeod shared, “Best of luck to Amelie, Ruth, Laura, Jerry, Lily, Lucas, and Marco! They have contributed greatly to St. Luke’s legacy as a strong, award-winning debate team.”
