Class of 2021 Junior Book Awards

St. Luke’s Junior Book Awards are given to students who demonstrate the qualities identified in each award. These qualities include excellence in academics, character, leadership, and more. The students mentioned below have been selected by the St. Luke’s faculty to receive the awards. The award recipients’ books will be delivered to their homes later this month.  

During this past Monday’s Upper School Town Meeting, Head of School Mark Davis announced the following Class of 2021 Junior Book Award recipients: 

The Brown University Book Award: Elyse Kim
Honors the junior who best combines academic excellence with clarity in written and spoken expression. 

Cornell Book Award: Moli Ma 
Given to a junior who shows an awareness of cultural diversity and is an excellent student, good citizen and innovative thinker.  

Dartmouth Book Award: Zachary Amendola and Danielle Nares 
Given to a student who ranks in the top 10% of the junior class; demonstrates strong character; has made a positive impact on the life of the school; and excels in at least one non-academic area. 

George Washington University Book Award: Jillian Fisher  
Recognizes a high school junior who embodies the GW drive and spirit, specifically with their academic excellence, leadership outside of the classroom, diversity of thought, and ability to put knowledge into action. 

Harvard Book Prize: Cate Mathews
Awarded to the junior who displays excellence in scholarship and high character, in addition to achievement in other fields. 

St. Lawrence Book Award: Aidan Gunn and Jackson Hart
Recognizes a junior who has demonstrated academic success and been identified as someone who displays a significant commitment to community service, both at the school and in the local community. 

University of Virginia Jefferson Award: Brian Douglas
Recognizes an outstanding high school junior who embraces creativity and innovation and embodies the spirit of discovery, much like the University’s founder, Thomas Jefferson. This student is a demonstrated citizen leader who works to improve their community locally or globally. 

Williams College Book Award: Jack Briggs and Marguerite DeMarco
Given to a junior who has demonstrated intellectual leadership and made a significant contribution to the extracurricular life of the school.
