Sodexo Team Member Shares Experience as a Marine With Literature of War Class

S.A.
St. Luke's Sodexo team member Jerald Botley joined Ms. Perry's Literature of War class this week to share his compelling story of serving two tours with the United States Marine Corps in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Botley, a person the students know and see daily, provided a firsthand account of boot camp, deployment, and combat that powerfully connected what students are learning in the classroom to the real world.

Throughout the semester, students explore important topics such as why we go to war, the effect war has on those who serve, and how civilians digest the news surrounding war. Students also examine a wide variety of perspectives on war as they read and dissect works of nonfiction and fiction

A very special thank you to Mr. Botley who not only took the time out of his day but also opened up to the students about his raw and authentic experiences.
