The Parents' Association has had an exciting start to our new, year round, Brown Bag Lunch Series. Since early in September, the PA has been hosting Wednesday bi-weekly gatherings with guest speakers from various departments and positions within the school to engage with parents in a smaller more intimate setting over Zoom. We have been thrilled to welcome Kari Olsen - Director of Counseling Services, Jaci Nelson- Director of Equity & Inclusion, and Anna Knechtel - Assistant Athletic Director & Nicole Guido - Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Kari Olsen discussed the specifics of the newly formed Counseling Services department and introduced the members of her team - Camille DeMarco-Havens & Krystal Hodge. She then opened it up to questions and feedback from parents on what they need and their thoughts on counseling services.
Jaci Nelson gave parents an inside look at the 3 year plan for Equity & Inclusion at SLS through Culture, Curriculum, and Community. Then she had an informative Q & A with parents on a variety of topics.
Anna Knechtel & Nicole Guido guided parents though the current Covid protocols and plans to keep our athletes safe and to keep them playing. They discussed how important athletics are to kids well being and the benefits of keeping them engaged and involved.
Upcoming Brown Bag Lunches include Daphne Teittinen-Schreck - Director of Educational Support Services & Rachel Finlaw - Support Specialist, Katie Mersky- Middle School Dean of Students, John Conners - Director of Theater Arts, Technical Theater, and Audio Visual Specialist, & Stefanie Veneruso -Director of Alumni Relations.
We are so thrilled to connect with all these staff and faculty from the comfort of our own homes/offices and hope that you will continue to join us on Wednesdays to learn more about all the ways our children's education is being enhanced on the Hilltop.
