St. Luke’s Upper School Women in STEM Inspire the Next Generation
S.A.
Upper School female students, STEM Scholars, and members of St. Luke’s Club W.I.S.E (Women in STEM Education) shared the mystery and magic they have experienced taking STEM courses. In this video, they encourage Middle School girls to discover what this field of study offers.
Middle School girls and students who identify as girls, interested in learning more about STEM have the opportunity to participate in the Girls Who Code Club, led by designLab Teacher Kimberly Gerardi and Fifth Grade Math Teacher Melissa Zurkowski. The St. Luke’s Girls Who Code Club will meet Mondays - Thursdays, from 3:15-4:00pm, beginning in December. Club members will meet in person or via Zoom, depending on St. Luke’s learning scenario at that time.
Gerardi shared, "We hope to inspire Middle School girls to get involved in STEM. All an interested girl has to do is email one of the advisors to get the club code. Then she just types the code into the Girls Who Code email that was sent to MS students. It is that simple."
A special thanks to Bryan DeVisierre, St. Luke's A/V specialist, for filming.
