Students Awarded at Dartmouth College Model UN Tournament

Abby Bielski Abbott, Assistant Head of Upper School and MUN Advisor
Fourteen students participated in the Model United Nations tournament at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, on April 5-7. Model United Nations is an educational simulation that allows students to study global issues, practice diplomacy, and develop solutions to real-world problems. Through MUN, students enhance their public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking skills in a challenging yet rewarding environment. Plus, it’s a great way to make new friends and have fun!

Congratulations to Samantha Gerber '25 and Gigi McWhorter '25 for earning the Outstanding Delegate award in their Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee committee, representing the Russian Federation and dominating the chamber. Additionally, Iris Weizer '26 received a verbal commendation for her impressive performance in the ad hoc committee, which specialized in communism in America post-World War II and the Korean War.

The executive MUN board will run one more in-house tournament later this spring; details are coming soon. Our club is also excited to host our first Summer at St. Luke’s MUN camp experience for sixth to ninth graders — led by our senior executive board — designed to introduce students to the vibrant world of Model United or take existing skills to the next level.
