Grandparents and Special Friends Day 2024
On Friday, May 10, we warmly welcomed over fifty visitors to spend a day in the life of a St. Luke’s Fifth Grader during our annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day. The day began with members of the fifth grade greeting their guests for breakfast in the Fireplace Commons. While they enjoyed their meal, they were treated to a special performance by the sixth-grade choir.
Following the dazzling vocal presentation, guests heard remarks from Head of School Mary Halpin Carter and Kaelen Nazzaro Director of Alumni Relations. Guests then had the opportunity to view the fifth-grade art installation. Pieces on display were inspired by family traditions, experiences, and memories and were accompanied by a written reflection from each artist.
Our grandparents and special friends were not just passive observers but active participants in the day's activities. They joined their fifth grade hosts in classroom rotations and engaged in fun-filled activities planned in each class. The breaks between classes were a time for relaxation, with coffee, tea, and treats to enjoy. As a memento of this special day, each Grandparent and Special Friend could take home a framed picture of themselves with their fifth grader. It was a day filled with love and joy on the Hilltop!
