Paying It Forward in Prom Dresses

VGP
A St. Luke’s service tradition continues with the third annual Prom Drive March 30-April 8.

St. Luke’s alumnae Allison Frattaroli ‘14 started the drive after she saw the high prices for prom dresses and realized these costs might be out of reach for many. A grant from the ANNpower Vital Voices Initiative program allowed Allison and Kids Helping Kids (KHK) to create the Handled With Care Dress Boutique.

New or gently used formal and semi-formal dresses (prom, bar/bat mitzvah, homecoming, bridesmaid, evening wear) and accessories (jewelry, bags, shoes, new makeup, etc.) are being collected. On April 10, a special event will be held at the Boys & Girls Club in Stamford. Local girls will have the chance to browse through racks of selections and say “Yes!” to their own prom dress. Kids Helping Kids will have a makeup artist and photographer to make the event a truly special experience. KHK founder and SLS senior Lexi Kelley said, “Last year we served nearly 200 girls and this year the turnout is expected to be even more. It’s really exceptional that so many people are willing to donate.”

Donations will be accepted in the St. Luke’s reception area March 30-April 8.
