MS Students Participate in International Model UN

From March 26-28, a group of 14 seventh and eighth grade St. Luke’s students traveled into New York City to compete at the 9th annual International Middle School Model UN Conference as delegates from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. After attending Opening Ceremonies in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters, St. Luke's students joined more than 1,600 other middle school students from around the world, including 11 countries, such as Turkey, Japan, and Chile, to negotiate and write resolutions on topics ranging from Malaria, TB and Infectious Disease to Girls Education and Gender Equity.

At the Closing Ceremonies, Mary Grace Thomas ‘19 and Dylan Antonioli ‘19 received the Outstanding Delegate award for the UNESCO Committee: Gendered Violence and Carolina Warneryd ‘19 and Hannah Amendola ‘19 received Honorable Mention for the UNICEF Committee: Access to Vaccines-Preventable Disease. Other participating St. Luke's students include: Kendall Boege ‘19, Anna Camp ‘19, Hannah Dekker ‘19, Justine McGuire ‘19, Harper Boege ‘20, Brody Menzies ‘20, Ruth Mercedes ‘20, Mia Mitchell ‘20, Marco Volpitta ‘20, and Chris Walsh ‘20, who were joined by faculty advisors Chris Phelps and Emma Creeden.
