On Thursday, Jan. 19, family and friends filled the Seldin Performing Arts Center for “A Winter Choral Concert” presented by the St. Luke's Music Department. Choral ensembles featured students from all grades, including Music 5, Choir 6, Treble Choir 7/8, Tenor-Bass Choir 7/8, and St. Luke's Chorale (our Upper School ensemble). Our one hundred and forty-four choral students sang under the direction of Choir Director Patrick Barry.
Several selections challenged the students to perform text in languages other than English, such as Swahili, Zulu, Spanish, and Ukrainian. Head of Middle School Amber Berry said, "The energy from the middle school crowd was palpable in anticipation of the start." Indeed, there was electricity in the air as our young musicians shared their work and, more importantly, supported one another. Stay tuned for information about our spring choral concert in May!
