Three SLS Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
S.A.
Congratulations to SLS seniors Laurel Aronian, Lena Olbrys, and Rydan Olson, who were recently named semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit® Scholarship Program.
Laurel, Lena, and Rydan qualified as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists after taking a preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Semifinalists represent about 1% of all high school students in the country. Of the nearly 1.5 million students who take the test nationwide, only 16,000 are selected as semifinalists.
As semifinalists, they will submit details about their academic records, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, and honors and awards received. To be considered a finalist, candidates must have an outstanding high school academic record, be endorsed by a high school official, and write an essay.
The National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in spring 2025.
